Frogs (from the Harlequin
recordings) appeared on Waves: Vol. 2 on Bomp Records. This
compilation and its predecessor Waves: Vol. 1 contained selected
tracks by up and coming new wave bands from the late 70s.
Greg Shaw contacted Terry Hogan after being sent the Harlequin
demos. A copy of his positive response can be found in the
press archive (last page of letters section).

on vinyl only, and is now out of print.
Bomp is one of America's oldest independent labels and still

Originally released
on Bryan Staff's Ripper Records - 1980.
Toy Love recorded 3 songs - Squeeze, Toy Love Song and Frogs
with Simon Alexander at Harlequin Studios, Auckland, on 10th
February 1979, mixed on 15th February 1979.
Squeeze and Toy Love Song appeared on the original AK 79 release.
Other bands on this comp. included Proud Scum, Terrorways,
Scavengers, Primmers and the Swingers.

In November
1993 it was re-released jointly on CD by Flying Nun and Propeller
Records. It included bands that weren't on the original album:
Suburban Reptiles, Features, Spelling Mistakes and Marching
Girls.
The Harlequin recording of Frogs also appeared on this version. |

released between 1979 and 1982 on Simon Grigg's Propellor
Records, with tracks from 24 bands. Released in August 1988.
Put together as a testament to the flourishing music scene
of the time and some of the great songs that emerged with
it. Toy Love's Rebel is the first track on this comp.

Released 2003 on Universal
in conjunction with Propellor Records and Visionary TV. The
soundtrack to the 6 part documentary series tracing the evolution
of NZ popular music, made by Visionary TV and aired in NZ
in 2003. TL's Don't Ask Me included, track 2 on Disc 2.
The TV series broke each episode down to a decade - Chris,
Paul and Jane were all interviewed for the relevant episode.
